Helping fellow pediatricians keep their patients safer

As pediatricians, we know our fellow doctors are consistently doing what's best for their patients and parents.

But one area has emerged where we think our pediatric emergency room experience can help you better serve your patients
.

Home injuries are one of the top reasons children under the age of three are taken to the emergency room. We see first-hand the results of inadequate child proofing which causes falls, burns, poisoning, drowning, choking and strangulation, and more.

We would like to support your pediatric care by providing free, up-to-date childproofing information for you and your patients.

As you know, AAP policy has charged pediatricians with the impossible task of providing more than 100 safety messages to our patients (1). Most pediatricians are not prepared to serve as a primary source of practical child proofing advice (2).

WELL HOME CHECK FORMS

That's where we come in. To help you better care for your patients, we've developed The Well Home Check™ program as a free source of child safety educational materials. The program includes:
• Downloadable age-specific handouts designed to accompany Well Child Checks
• Detailed, on-line childproofing and child safety information for parents to access anytime

"We really appreciate the Well Home Check forms. Parents have found them to be informative but not overwhelming. We as pediatricians like them because we never have enough time to cover everything so we give them to parents in the waiting room before their visit and they can ask us questions. Thank you."

Dr. Jamie Hutton
Bluestone Pediatrics, Harrisonburg VA

Our Well Home Check content is consistent with information from TIPP®, Bright Futures, and Safe Kids USA, and also includes practical how-to advice to help parents childproof properly. This information will help them choose a safety gate, prevent slammed fingers, safeguard a home swimming pool, and more.

Turning each of your patients' homes into a "yes" environment will allow them to explore, while giving their parents peace of mind.
